As seen in A Day Gone
By, the tobacco is transported to the barn where the people will
string the leaves on a stick and place it in the barn. In stringing the
tobacco, four or five leaves are bunched together and a string is wrapped
around the leaves to secure them to a four foot stick. The sticks of tobacco
will now be hung in the barn four about seven days for curing. The curing
process is an art passed on from generation to generation. During the
curing time, a small fire is constantly kept burning which will dry the
leaves to a golden color and produce a sweet aroma in the tobacco. |
